Scrapbooking from the past - 1961 to be exact!

Some weeks ago I had a pleasure of attending my Aunt and Uncle's Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations.  It was a beautiful day - same as the wedding day all those years ago according to Uncle Ray - and held in the same church they were married in.

After the religious ceremony we gathered for a luncheon in the hall next door and after some delicious food I wondered over to a display table set up with wedding photos, a lovely cake, a Papal blessing and a scrapbook of their wedding cards!!

Needless to say I was interested in all the items but particularly in the scrapbook, specially when mum and Aunt Pat looked through it and pointed out the card mum and dad had given them on that occasion.

I guess my point of all this is that to me that is the whole point of scrapbooking!  I was delighted to look through the pages and get a glimpse of the past, the way cards were back in those days, you could read the greetings inside, it was lovely and I felt somehow privileged to be able to do this - thanks Aunt Pat for being such a great guardian of the past.

I took some photos (of course!) as I wanted to share this special moment with you as well - enjoy!

Happy Anniversary to my Aunt and Uncle!

My Aunty Patricia and Uncle Ray are celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss (one of the reasons my parents are over here visiting - can't miss out on a good shindig!) and I was waiting for my new order to arrive so I could make them a card to celebrate the occasion.  Anyway, it arrived last week and I had lots of fun trying out my new products, the Framed Tulips embossing folder, Gold embossing powder, even the Cherry Cobbler card and ink are new!  And I must say I absolutely love the stamp set, as soon as I saw cards appearing on American blogs using the Nature Walk stamp set I added it to my mental wish-list and hoped like mad it would be sold in Australia and New Zealand and it was - how lucky is that!

Anyway, went a bit crazy with the gold embossing, it's not everyday you celebrate your Golden Wedding anniversary, hope they like it.

The gold embossing is more obvious in the next shots.

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Versamark Watermark ink

Tools and other fun stuff:  Framed Tulips embossing folder, gold embossing powder, heat gun, embossing buddy, Large Oval punch, Scalloped Oval punch, Stamping Dimensionals.

Valentines' Day is getting closer

Well, it has dawned a stunningly cloudless day, hard to believe after the rain and wind last night - master 3 and I will be off to the park for Push Play in a couple of hours so thought I'd get this posted early.

Some of you may have already seen these cards on my Facebook page, but thought I'd share them again - just in case you missed them.

I like the simplicity of the first one, and the Saffron/Poppy Parade colour combination is slowly growing on me!  I made it earlier this month and I feel would be appropriate for a number of occasions, anniversary, Valentines' Day, even as a wedding card.  You can see cards with similar colours here at Color Dare.

The second card I made for my husband for our anniversary and uses the same colours, as well as a hint of Old Olive in the punched leaves, I also added some tiny pearls to the 'leafy heart' though you can't really appreciate them in the photo.  Once again, by using a different sentiment you could use it for various occasions.
