Hello, hello, hello!

Here is a card I made using the sketch from the Stamping 411 blog, featuring a couple of stamp sets which retire very soon!

I must be in a 'spring' frame of mind as I choose really cheerful colours today, it is a beautiful (windy) day here in Wellington and it was lovely to be able to sit in the sun for a couple of minutes, without feeling cold, while my little boy played on the slide after kindy this morning.

I stamped the flower image randomly on white card with three ink colours, then punched them out and arranged them on an embossed green card.  I lined up the 'hello' greeting using the Stamp-a-Majig - invaluable for this sort of stamping, when you want things neatly in rows.

What I used:

Card:  Tempting Turquoise, White, green

Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise

Stamp sets:  Petal Pizazz, Basic Phrases

Tools and other fun stuff:  Scalloped Square punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, Stamp-a-Majig.

If you love bold coloured images this set is for you!  I've loved using it and am sad it is retiring, but on the bright side there will be lots of new sets to fall in love with in the new catalogue due out on 1st September.

Priceless mini cards - and a giveaway!

Priceless was one of the sets I chose with my starter pack last year, the combination of scribbles, dots and whimsical images always appealed to me.

This morning I quickly stamped up these three little cards to show you how versatile this set can be:  I cut the three white backgrounds to size (to match some envelopes I already had) then used Rose Red, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink to create an all-over pattern.  All that was needed then was a sentiment punched out and matted with the same Rose Red background and they were finished.

Loads of Love

Another card for a sketch challenge, it looked quite simple to start with but I tend to have a habit of complicating things sometimes!  So after deciding to use the truck image I thought of building a scene to go with it and after some stamping, masking, stamping again, sponging on 'hills' and clouds, etc here is the result!

I used a sketch from Stamping 411 again, you're most welcome to pop over to their blog if you want to see what other people made with the sketch.

Showcasing Celebrations DSP and Mojo Monday

At the weekend I went to visit Keryn for a crafting session and made a few cards which I'll show you over the next few days.

This is the first one designed by Keryn, made with the Celebrations DSP, a riot of bright colours including Real Red, Pear Pizazz, pacific Point and Bashful Blue.

Mojo Monday 176

Two cards in one post today!

I've never made a round card until now so had to figure out a few things along the way, how to cut it, how to make it stand up, etc.  For the background I crumpled up a piece of SU's packaging paper, smoothed it out and dabbed it with Soft Suede and Old Olive ink pads.  I also added some faux stitching around the edge with a Chocolate Chip marker.   Looking at the card now I feel it needs a layer of red between the background inked paper and the Soft Suede card base, maybe next time!  I took my cue from this week's Mojo Monday sketch and here is what I made:

What I used:

Card:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Haiku DSP (retired), Real Red, SU packaging craft paper.

Ink:  Soft Suede, Old Olive, Basic Black and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker.

Stamp Set:  Basic Phrases.

Tools and other fun stuff:  2-Step Bird punch, Word Window punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' sponges.

A different take on Perfect Plum

Now, I'm a lot happier with this colour combination of Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzaz and Pretty in Pink, a lot more 'me' yesterday's one.

I found this colour combination on The Colour Dare's blog and thought it was really pretty, hope you like it.  It is another watercoloured image, a very femenine image of a little girl on a swing.  I used a combination of Stampin' Write markers and watercolour pencils to colour her in which seemed to work well, I thought perhaps one medium may bleed into the other one but it well very well I'm pleased to report.

 Decisions, decisions, this is the cardstock in all three colours plus the coloured image.

 I've changed plan already here as you can see!  I opted to introduce the pear pizzazz in the form of the ribbon, and just left the pink in the coloured image.

Here is the final result, quite different from yesterday!

Card:  Perfect Plum, Very Vanilla, Watercolour paper

Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery Stampin' Write markers, Basic Black inkpad.

Stamp Sets:  Basic Phrases, A Kind Word (retired)

Tools and other fun stuff:  Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Pear Pizazz poly-stitched ribbon, Scallop Border punch, Word Window punch, watercolour pencils, aquabrush.

Valentines' Day is getting closer

Well, it has dawned a stunningly cloudless day, hard to believe after the rain and wind last night - master 3 and I will be off to the park for Push Play in a couple of hours so thought I'd get this posted early.

Some of you may have already seen these cards on my Facebook page, but thought I'd share them again - just in case you missed them.

I like the simplicity of the first one, and the Saffron/Poppy Parade colour combination is slowly growing on me!  I made it earlier this month and I feel would be appropriate for a number of occasions, anniversary, Valentines' Day, even as a wedding card.  You can see cards with similar colours here at Color Dare.

The second card I made for my husband for our anniversary and uses the same colours, as well as a hint of Old Olive in the punched leaves, I also added some tiny pearls to the 'leafy heart' though you can't really appreciate them in the photo.  Once again, by using a different sentiment you could use it for various occasions.
